by Vargis.Khan

This will remain to be a dedicated post to share updates on Kinnaur Road Status and conditions. As the tourism season progresses, I will continue posting the most recent updates on road conditions in the Kinnaur Valley. If any of the roads anywhere is closed, I will share the word in this article.

Below is the status of the roads in Kinnaur Valley as of today. I have also posted the updates on the road between Chandigarh and Shimla which you will take to get to Kinnaur Valley.

Shimla Road Status = Open

The route between Chandigarh to Shimla is open. After the recent snowfall in and around Shimla, some of the roads were temporarily blocked but then were soon reopened.

The condition of the road is a mix of good and average. There is road widening work happening on this route due to which, the traffic these days is slower than usual. But other than that, the condition of the road is mostly smooth.

The road between Narkanda and Reckong Peo is currently open and is a mix of good and average right now.

Sarahan Road Status = Open

The main road from Jeori to Sarahan is closed due to a bridge that collapsed 3 years ago and still has not been completely built again. For now, there is an alternate dirt road that connects Sarahan with the main highway. This road is located about a kilometer after you have crossed Jeori and is in extremely bad condition.

If you were traveling by Bus, then it will drop you before the under repair bridge. You will have to cross it on foot and get to the other side from where pick up vans are available at Rs. 50 per person on a shared basis; which will drop at Sarahan Bus stand near Bhimakali temple.
