You will not be changing buses in Kargil and it will be the same bus that you boarded from Srinagar which will take you to Leh from Kargil the next day. Srinagar to Leh Bus 2021

There are two types of Buses available from Srinagar to Leh or vice versa. The first and the most popular one is the govt. bus fare from Srinagar to Leh operated by JKSRTC. These are a mix of luxury, semi-deluxe, and ordinary buses. The second category is of the buses that are operated by private tour operators and these are mostly semi-deluxe mini-buses or tempo travelers. The majority of the buses available are ordinary JKSRTC buses and these play on the route on a daily basis.

Srinagar to Leh Bus JKSRTC

In theory, there are supposed to be 3 types of buses available from Srinagar to Leh, all provided by JKSRTC. The first one is a super luxury bus, the second one a deluxe, and the third a semi-deluxe bus. In reality, however, there is just one Bus available which is mostly a semi-deluxe one.

Srinagar to Leh Bus Time Table

The bus starts from Srinagar at around 7 am, arrives at Sonamarg around 11 am, Drass at around 2 pm, and finally reaches Kargil between 4 to 5 pm. It halts overnight at Kargil. The coach will start at 7.30 am the next morning from Kargil and reach Leh around 3 pm.

This is a daily bus from Srinagar. Usually, it is just one bus every morning but depending on the bookings, JKSRTC may run a second bus on the same day.

Srinagar to Leh Bus Fare for super luxury buses is Rs. 1300 per person. For a deluxe bus, it will cost you about Rs. 900 per person and Rs. 700 for a semi-deluxe bus. Normally, it is just a semi-deluxe bus operating on the route so Rs. 700 per head is what you will be spending for the journey.

This bus starts from Srinagar, travels via Sonamarg, Drass, Kargil; and covers a total distance of 425 kilometers before finally arriving at Leh.

How to Book a Ticket for Srinagar to Leh Bus 2021

The bus completely operates on the number of tickets sold. This is how JKSRTC decides whether they would need to assign one bus on a particular day or more than one.

To book your seat, you will need to arrive at TRC and buy a ticket for your date of travel. Please note that buying in advance is mandatory and you may not be able to board a bus if you didn’t have the ticket is already. It is possible that you reached the Bus stand and were allowed to buy a seat on the spot but I wouldn’t recommend taking that chance.

There is no online booking portal available for JKSRTC Buses yet. The only way to get a ticket is to buy one in person.

Jammu to Leh Bus Service

There is no direct bus from Jammu to Leh. There is no direct Bus available from Jammu to Kargil as well. The only way to travel from Jammu to Leh is to first reach Srinagar and then go to Leh.

Srinagar to Leh Tempo Traveller

These are all mostly operated by private tour operators. They complete the journey non-stop without a halt in between. The starting time from Srinagar is about 5 PM and arrival at Leh is in the morning at 8 AM.
