If a trip to Ladakh was on your mind and you were planning to make it completely by public transport, then below is the schedule of bus service in Leh Ladakh in the year 2020. Much of the timings have actually remained unchanged from the previous year but the frequency of the buses on a few routes was increased this year. Apart from the buses, the availability of shared cabs also has increased a lot in recent years. These cabs can be boarded right from Leh Bus stand and ply almost on a daily basis on all major tourist routes. So planning a trip to Leh Ladakh now by Bus and other modes of travel has actually gotten a lot easier.

Please note that the schedule below is only of buses traveling internally in Ladakh. It does not include information on the buses to get in and out of Ladakh. I have covered that information in more details in another two articles that I would request you to take a look at. To reach Ladakh, you can either travel by the Bus from Manali to Leh which is provided by both HRTC and HPTDC. Or you can travel by the daily Bus from Srinagar to Leh Ladakh. This service can be actually rendered to reach Leh town and then for your return journey home. Click on the links in red to take you to those two respective posts.
Bus Service in Leh Ladakh in 2020
In case the images above are not clear or not loading, then mentioned below is the same schedule of bus service in Leh Ladakh. A few other important buses like for Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Turtuk, and Hanle are not in the schedule above but I have provided information on those in the text below.
Leh to Skuru Bus
Skuru is a small village located in Nubra Valley, about 25 kilometers ahead of Hunder. There is a daily Bus available from Leh that travels to Skuru for Rs. 263 per person. The Bus leaves Leh Bus Stand at 7.30 AM. You can use this daily Bus to travel to Khardung La, Sumur, Diskit, Hunder and pretty much everywhere in Nubra Valley. You can get down at Diskit and board a local bus or shared cab from there to go towards Panamik or Turtuk. This is your daily Leh to Nubra Valley Bus.

Leh to Pangong Bus (Spangmik)
There are two buses scheduled for Pangong Tso from Leh in a week, on every Wednesday and Sunday at 6.30 AM. The bus travels via Chang La and will drop you at the village of Spangmik. The fare per person is Rs. 270. This bus travels back to Leh the next day and can be used for your return journey. So your Pangong Lake to Leh Bus schedule will be every Thursday and Monday at 7 AM.

Leh to Turtuk Bus Service
A Bus for Turtuk leaves Leh every Saturday at 6 AM. Fare per person is Rs. 316. This bus passes through Khardung La, Khardung, Khalsar, Diskit, Hunder and Thoise. If you got down at Khalsar, you can use this Bus to travel to Panamik as well. If you were already in Diskit, then you can board this one to go to Turtuk from there.

Leh to Tso Moriri by Bus
A bus for Tso Moriri leaves Leh on 10th, 20th, and 30th of every month at 6.30 AM. Fare per person is Rs. 370. This bus has been running on this schedule for as long as I know. I am not sure why the authorities do not increase the frequency of this bus. If it suits your itinerary and dates, then you can travel by it. Otherwise, you will have to catch a shared cab from Leh Bus stand for Tso Moriri.

Leh to Hanle Bus Service
There is a Bus from Leh for Hanle on every Saturday at 7 AM. This Bus travels via Spangmik, Erath, Chushul, and Nyoma. The fare per person is Rs. 492. You can use this Bus as well for traveling to Pangong Lake.

Leh to Srinagar Bus Service
A Bus for Srinagar leaves Leh every day at 2 PM and travels non-stop to reach Srinagar the next morning. Fare per person is Rs. 1203. This bus travels through Lamayuru, Kargil, Drass and Sonamarg. If you wanted to break your journey in two days, you can board this Bus, get down at Kargil and spend a day there. The next day, you can board the same bus in the evening from Kargil and continue to Srinagar.

Leh to Manali Bus Service
There are actually three different types of Buses available for traveling from Leh to Manali. Please read Leh to Manali Bus Service for a detailed description of this service. The same buses travels to Keylong as well and then continues to Manali via Rohtang. This is one of the most frequently used bus service in Leh Ladakh.
Leh to Kargil Bus Service
A Bus leaves Leh every 2 PM every day and reaches Kargil by late evening. Fare per person is 604. This is actually the same bus that first reaches Kargil and then continues to Srinagar.
Leh to Dah, Bheema, Hanu Village Bus
These villages are located on the Batalik route, ahead of Khalsi (or Khaltse). From Leh, you take Srinagar Leh highway and from Khaltse, continue straight ahead to Batalik, rather than turning towards Lamayuru. A bus travels from Leh at 9 AM daily for this route. Fare is Rs. 266 per person till Dah Village. This is actually a cluster of 5 villages, the other two being Sanit and Garkon. Dha and Dah are both same place, just spelled differently. Same way, Bheema, and Beema are also the same village.
Leh to Skurbuchan Bus
Skurbuchan too actually falls on the same road, slightly before Dha Village. It is actually a part of Sham Valley. You can travel here by the daily Bus that starts from Leh at 10 AM. Fare per person is Rs. 202. You can also travel by the 9 AM bus for Dah Village but then you would have to get down on the highway and will have to reach Skurbuchan somehow. So it is better to board the direct 10 AM Bus.
Leh to Damkhar Gongma Bus
Damkhar too is located on the same road to Batalik. It falls slightly before Skurbuchan. A Bus leaves Leh every Monday and Thursday at 9.30 AM that can drop you at Damkhar for Rs. 215 per person. Damkhar and Domkhar are both the same place.
Leh to Hanu Gongma Bus
Hanu too is located quite close to Dah and Bheema villages. A Bus travels here from Leh every Friday at 9 AM. Fare per person is Rs. 277.
Leh to Lamayuru Bus
A Bus travels from Leh to Lamayuru every day at 3 PM. Fare per person is Rs. 211. This bus returns from Lamayuru to Leh the next day early in the morning. So you can actually use this one as Leh to Lamayuru Bus as well if you were going towards Ladakh from Kargil.
Leh to Tia and Temisgam Village Bus
Tia is another village slightly off the Srinagar Leh highway in Khalsi District. Temisgam is also known as Tingmosgang. A Bus travels to these villages from Leh at 1 PM in summer and 12 noon in winters. Fare per person is Rs. 155.
Leh to Skitmang Village Bus
Skitmang is another small village in Ladakh in Nyoma Block near Durbok (Durbuk). A Bus is available to get here every Tuesday from Leh at 1 PM in summer and 12 noon in winter. Fare per person is Rs. 221.
Leh to Hemis Shukpachan Bus
Hemis Shukpachan is a village located on Srinagar Leh Highway, after Uleytokpo. There is a Bus available to get here from Leh every Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM in summer and 1 PM during the winter season. Fare per person is Rs. 142.
Leh to Shara Bus
Shara is a village that falls on Manali Leh Highway, slightly after Upshi (about 18 kilometers). There is a daily Bus from Leh at 4 PM for Shara. Fare is Rs. 109 per person. You can also use this bus to travel to places like Karu and Upshi.
Leh to Nyoma Bus
A Bus leaves for Nyoma from Leh every Monday and Thursday at 9 AM for Nyoma. Fare is Rs. 298 per person. This bus travels back to Leh the next day for its return journey, every Tuesday and Friday as Nyoma to Leh Bus. Please note that it takes the Chumathang route and not the Pangong Chushul route.
Leh to Chumathang Bus
A direct Bus is available for Chumathang from Leh every alternate Sunday at 1 PM during summer and 12 noon in winters. Nyoma is a little ahead of Chumathang so if not this bus, you can board the Nyoma Bus I explained above and get down at Chumathang.
Leh to Chiktan Village Bus
Chiktan is another village located near Batalik region. A Bus travels here every Tuesday and Thursday from Leh at 8 AM via Lamayuru. Fare per person till Chiktan is Rs. 301. Actually, you can also use this Bus to just travel to Lamayuru as well. This village is also sometimes spelled or pronounced as Chitkan.
Leh to Foker Bus
Foker is a small village near Kargil, after Lamayuru. A Bus travels here every Saturday at 8 AM from Leh via Lamayuru. The fare per person is Rs. 341. You can also use this Bus to travel to Lamayuru.

Hi Akshay – Buses in December depends on the weather entirely. If it favors, then it will run per the above scheduled. If there was too much snow, there won’t be any bus available.
