The current Sach Pass status is open from both the Killar and Bairagarh sides. The road was declared closed for vehicular traffic in the month of October but is now open for all kinds of traffic. Similarly, the road from Tandi to Kishtwar via Killar is open as well. Sinthan top is also open. You can travel to Kishtwar and cross Sach to get to Killar and Tandi. Planning a trip to Sach Pass is now definitely possible.

4. Kinnaur Valley is a good alternative

It is not open completely Sumit Bhai. There is a high chance of temporary closures and that is why I have not changed the status.
There is very little chance of rain in June 2nd week. It usually starts by end of June but you can never really tell anything these days with all the global warming.
Hi bro

I have been to sach pass from bairagarh earlier from Bairagarh side
Can we do it easily by Car (Ritz)
Hello, I would like to take the Kishtwar to Udaipur route around the first or second week of May, through Killar. (bypassing Sach Pass). Will the route be open then? Roughly how difficult would the road conditions be for a RE Thunderbird? Thanks for any info.
The pass is partially open right now Sean so yes, there is a high chance that it may be all open by May second week. Road conditions in early season will be a bit difficult because of the melting snow.
Thanks Vargis. Curious which would you consider the tougher section. Kishtwar to Killar or Killar to Udaipur? Or are they roughly the same?
Also I see you have warned that Sach may still have temporary closures…As it is a fluid situation, and things likely change by the day, do you have any update on this? Would you think it safe to try around first week of May?
Thanks again for any info.
Hello Sean – Both of the routes are more or less the same. The pass has not been closed so far and is still open.
Hey!

Hi Vargis!
I am planning to do sach pass from dalhousie in last week of this november, 2020, so would you like to advise me to come and do it? Will this trek be open or already has closed?
Thanks
Hey Vargis… Hope you are keeping good in these testing times. I was planning my Sach trip on 2nd October. 2 Questions i have for your guidance.
1. Is Sach Pass open? and if ye,s then how is the road condition, if i have to drive myself from Chamba.?
2. I have a nexon Automatic on me. Would you be able to suggest if i shud drive it up to the pass?
3. if, in case, i plan to park my car in the middle of the trip, will i be able to get a shared taxi or a bike to go up to the pass?
Hi Vargis,
I am aware sach pass is closed in December, do you have any idea till where can I go from Dalhousie on this road in 3rd week of December.
Hi Pratik – Bairagarh is the farthest you can go in December.
Hello, what is the status as of June 01, 2020. Is it expected open by June 15 2020
Hi Vargis,
Thanks for all your posts, they are super helpful. We were planning to do ladakh but after having seen some pictures of the crowd there in June, kind of gave up the idea. Then I can across the killar kishwat saach pass trip idea, however I am still researching on this, Spiti is also kind of on my mind.
I have some questions .. your inputs will certainly help my convoluted mind …
1. How crowded does ladakh get in June (mid basically )? I had been to ladakh in September.. I truly enjoyed the trip mainly due to the solace we found. Huge crowd is a big no no for me. I always travel in shoulder seasons – does ladakh get unbearably crowded- are traffic jams due to excess crowds a common sight ? If I were to give crowds in September a 9/10 .. 10 being least crowded .. how crowded does ladakh get in June ?
2. Is there a way we can do Killar-kishwat- Saach pass – Spiti in about 12 days, we can take a flight to any airport . Also how are things in Kashmir now ? Is it safe to do this in June mid? Is Saach pass open during June mid ?
Note : mode of transport will be – Bike
This will kind of be our last adventures trip since many of my friends are about to leave abroad to never return .. hence it’s very important to make the most of it. sorry if my questions seem redundant or excessive .
Thanks for taking time to read and respond .
Hi Vargis,
We decided on doing the Spiti Circuit considering the crowds in ladakh. In this regard can you kindly help me with following info
1. We intend to leave from Chandigarh on 12th of June- Is it correct to understand that Spiti wouldn’t be too crowded at this point of this?
2. We have about 11 day- we want to do Spiti-Chandratal-Killar-Saach Pass-Kishtwar, could you please recommend an itinerary?
3. We want to do the cliff hanger trail hence included Killar-Kishtwar track .Since Kishtwar is in Jammu- are the conditions ok to take this track?
4. We are really confused on how to head back- we are basically flying into chandigarh- to end our trip do we exit from Srinagar since Kishtwar is about 5 hours from Srinagar or is there another way to get back to chandigarh? (We dont mind flying into one airport and flying out of another)
5. Would saach pass be open around 20 June?
6. Can we camp st Chandratal lake?
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Yeah, spiti n kishtwar can be covered easily in 12 days.. you can come back from kishtwar directly to chandigarh no need to go srinagar and for dates you have call hotels available in killar or pangi those guys can update you about roads and recent conditions
as salaam alaikum bhai, planning a trip from Chamba to Kishtwar through Killar in the month or april, please advice if the route will be open by them.
Walaikum As Salam Bhai – No it will not be open in April
