Gulmarg Taxi Rates | Gulmarg Local Sightseeing Taxi Rates

Are you planning a trip to Gulmarg in the near future? Were you wondering how much it will cost? If the answer to the questions above is a yes then the information below can help you in determining that. Listed below are the most recent Gulmarg taxi rates for reaching Gulmarg, local sightseeing, and moving from Gulmarg to other nearby towns.

Please note that the rates I am listing below are for the taxi service in Gulmarg only. These are not the taxi rates for Srinagar or any other town in Kashmir. If you want to get the rate list for Srinagar, Please read Taxi Union Rates in Srinagar.

One important thing you should know is that the taxi rates in Kashmir are not strictly fixed. What this means is that there are set rates for popular tourist routes but how much you will pay will depend on the driver, your time of the trip, and negotiation skills.

Gulmarg Taxi Fare

Please note that the rates I am mentioning below are the asking price. Negotiate hard, talk directly to a driver and you will be able to get him to agree to an even lower price.

Srinagar to Gulmarg Taxi Fare

Let us first talk about how much you will pay to get to Gulmarg from Srinagar. There are two sides to it – summer and winter.

From April to November, taxi fares from Srinagar to Gulmarg will be about Rs. 2600 for a drop. For a return journey on the same day, it will be around Rs. 2,975.

For a 2-day trip, the total fare would come out to be anywhere between Rs. 5000 to Rs. 6000. Private taxi operators may charge a couple hundred more for cabs like Innova but for a Sumo or Bolero, this is what you will pay. You will rent one cab from Srinagar all the way to Gulmarg.

If you booked a tempo traveler for Gulmarg, it will cost you about Rs. 3500 for a same-day return trip and Rs. 6000 for a 2-day trip.

Taxi Fares for Gulmarg in Winter Season

In the winter season, from December to March, you will have to hire two different cabs. The first cab will drop you from Srinagar to Tangmarg. From Tangmarg, you will then have to rent another cab for Gulmarg.

Tangmarg is about 14 kilometers from Gulmarg. The drive from Srinagar to Tangmarg is mostly in a plain area with very gradual and little incline. But after Tangmarg, for the entire 14 kilometers, the road climbs up steeply all the way to Gulmarg.

During winters, this entire stretch between Tangmarg and Gulmarg remains buried under snow. Due to this, it becomes impossible to drive on it in a 2×4 car and without snow chains.

So in these months, you will first rent a cab to drop you at Tangmarg which will cost you Rs. 2600. This will depend on the driver, how well you negotiated, and if you were referred to him by someone known.

At Tangmarg, there is a taxi stand from where you will rent another cab for Gulmarg. This will cost you Rs. 1000 for a drop and Rs. 2500 for a return journey on the same day.

Srinagar to Gulmarg Bus

If you do not wish to pay an additional 2500 bucks, then ask for the bus stand at Tangmarg and board a Bus for Gulmarg. The Bus fare is merely Rs. 50 per person. There are buses available on an almost hourly basis. These are short-canter-type buses with snow chains.

You can also board a Bus from Srinagar to Tangmarg if you do not want to hire a cab at all. This will cost you another 50 bucks and your entire trip from Srinagar to Gulmarg will cost just about a hundred bucks.

For this, you will first have to reach Dal Gate and board a Bus for Parimpora. Then you will board a second bus from Parimpora for Tangmarg.

What you must remember though is that these are poorly maintained, private, short, and highly uncomfortable buses. Opt for this only when you are traveling solo, with a couple of friends, and are on a shoestring budget.

Srinagar to Gulmarg Shared Taxi

During winters, another mode of transport available is shared cabs from Tangmarg. These are known locally as “Service Gaadi” or “Service Cabs” in Tangmarg.

Just go to the Tangmarg Bus stand, ask for a service gaadi going towards Gulmarg, and grab a seat. A shared cab will charge you Rs. 50 per person.

You can also board a shared cab from Srinagar to Tangmarg in the same way that I explained above for the buses – Dal Gate to Parimpora and then Parimpora to Tangmarg.

Gulmarg to Srinagar Taxi Rate

A taxi from Gulmarg to Srinagar will cost you Rs. 2600 for a drop anywhere in the city. This will remain applicable in both summers and winters.

Srinagar Airport to Gulmarg Taxi Fare

The rates I explained above will remain applicable for a cab from the airport as well.

Gulmarg to Pahalgam Taxi Fare

Pahalgam is at a distance of about 145 kilometers from Gulmarg and the journey takes around 5-6 hours to complete. An Innova for a drop to Pahalgam will cost Rs. 5200 – 6200. A smaller car will cost about Rs. 4800 to Rs. 5200.

If you booked a taxi from Srinagar for Gulmarg, then the same cab driver can also take you to Pahalgam the next day for a much lesser price, about Rs. 2000.

Gulmarg to Sonamarg Taxi Fare

Gulmarg to Sonamarg is about 123 kilometers and the journey takes around 5 hours to complete. An Innova for a drop to Sonamarg will cost Rs. 5000. A Scorpio will cost Rs. 4500 and a Tata Sumo will cost Rs. 3500.

Gulmarg to Bota Pathri

Bota Pathri is a tourist spot about a 30-40 minutes drive from Gulmarg. It is like a meadow but the sights from here are definitely very scenic. It has recently been opened for tourist visits a couple of years ago.

If you are staying in Gulmarg for a day, you must venture in this direction. You will need a local guide with you for getting permission. There are a couple of Army Check posts on the way and you may get turned back. A cab from Gulmarg to Bota Pathri and return will cost you Rs. 2500.

Gulmarg to Baba Reshi

Baba Reshi is a shrine, a ‘mazaar’ located about 10 kilometers from Gulmarg. It is a greatly respected shrine and hundreds of people visit here each year to get blessings. A return trip to Baba Reshi from Gulmarg will cost Rs. 2000 – 2500.

Gulmarg to Yusmarg

Katra to Gulmarg Taxi Fare

A taxi from Gulmarg to Katra (or Katra to Gulmarg) will cost you about Rs. 11000-12000.

Jammu to Gulmarg Taxi Fare

Taxi fare from Jammu to Gulmarg (or Gulmarg to Jammu) for a same-day drop will cost you about Rs. 12000-13000. If you were breaking the journey in Patnitop and made it a 2 days trip, then the cost will increase to Rs. 15000 – 16000.

Gulmarg Local Sightseeing Taxi Rates

• If you hired a cab for a full day to show you around all the nearby places, you will pay around Rs. 4000 in Gulmarg.
• For sightseeing in Srinagar City, you will pay Rs. 2000.
• For a drop from Gulmarg to Dal Gate or the airport in Srinagar, you will pay about Rs. 2000.
• The rate list below is an old one and the rates have been revised since. The amounts I mentioned above are the most recent ones.
