Hotels and accommodation facilities at and around Bhangarh

by Vargis.Khan

If you are planning a trip to Bhangarh, then finding a place to stay there can become a real problem. Considering all the fuss about Bhangarh being India’s most haunted place and so many people talking about visiting it, one would assume that finding a hotel here should be easy. This however is not the case. There is no reasonably priced hotel within at least 85 kms range around Bhangarh. When I say reasonably priced, I am talking about a hotel that can fit into everybody’s budget. There are a few resorts nearby but trust me; their one day charge is enough to feed a poor family for an entire month.

Distance to Bhangarh from Jaipur is only about 100 kms however it is 250 kms from Delhi. People from Jaipur can easily make it a one day trip even If they also want to include a trip to Sariska with it. This however is not really an option for people coming from Delhi. It is possible though if you started really early from Delhi and wouldn’t mind driving home at late hours. Road until Alwar for 170 kms is quite good but turns into a total disaster for the remaining 90 kms to Bhangarh. On top of it, if you also want to include a safari in Sariska in your trip, it would really get difficult and tiring to reach back Delhi the same day.

The nearest hotel to Bhangarh lies at the gates of Sariska tiger reserve, 50 kms away. There are 2 hotels near Sariska, one is private and other one is government run. Both these hotels are very high priced; we are talking a minimum Rs.2500 for a room for 2 people. It these hotels are in fact within your wallet range, staying here is your best bet. They are at quite a beautiful location. Take a ride from Delhi to Bhangarh straight, visit the old fort and then come back and stay at one of these hotels. Next day, take an early morning Safari at Sariska which starts at 5.30 am. Distance from both these hotels to Sariska entry gate is merely a two minutes walk.

There are several resorts along the way as well, between Sariska and Bhangarh. As I mentioned, all these resorts are very highly priced, around Rs. 7,500 to 10,000 for a night. Is this suits you; this is another great option to stay.

If however, you are like me who just needs a hotel room to crash for the night and don’t see much sense in paying so much, then you are in trouble. If you are coming from Jaipur, there should not be a problem in going back home the same day but if you are coming from Delhi, you would have to go back to Alwar to find a hotel within your budget. Or you will have to start early from Delhi. If you can leave around 3.30 AM, you can comfortably reach Sariska by 5.30 for the first safari which ends at 9 am. After the safari, ride to Bhangarh and then head back home. If you cannot leave Delhi that early in the morning, then head straight to Bhangarh, then come back and take the noon safari at 2.30 pm which will end by 6 pm and then you can drive back home.

There is another choice if you want to break the journey for the night and do not want to go back to Alwar. There is a village near Sariska called Thanaghazi, around 7 kms towards Bhangarh. There is a dharamshala in Thanaghazi where you can easily find a bed or room for Rs. 150 to Rs. 200 per head. This is where I stayed and room was okay, considering that you just need to lie down for a few hours and close your eyes.

What is the name of the dharmashala of Thanagazi?
I have spotted on google maps a hotel in the direction from Bhangarh to Tehla, just south of Sariska. It is Lalbag guest house. Also, there is a RTDC resort, apparently affordable to budget travellers looking for a weekend getaway, @ Jamwi Ramgarh, apprx 40 km west of Bhangarh. I have spotted it on google map.
Shall be happy, if this info is useful to a budget weekend getaway seeker!

I am not really sure of the name, just ask for Dharamshala when you are in Thanaghazi and someone will point you in the direction.

I last went there in 2013 so there is a possibility that there are budget accommodations now available in last 3 years. Can you please let m know if you find any once you are back so I may add to the article for others?

Surely, I shall do, Vargis. However, you may like to have a look on google maps. Some accommodations, mostly for fat purses, have come up in that stretch from Jamwi+Ramgarh via Bhangarh to Tehla. The demand seem to be of type of weekend getaways.

Thank you. But I think Dausa would be a good place to stay if you want to visit Bhangarh fort at night. Its is 30 Km away from Bhangarh fort and you can find taxi easily from here to bhangarh fort.
