I recently upgraded my Mahindra Thar with a few modifications including a hard top and a new music system. For speakers, I bought a pair of Sony XS-FB693E and after a while of usage; below is a brief review of how I found these speakers to be. My overall experience I must say was quite satisfactory. I am pairing 4 of these Sony speakers with a Sony WX900BT unit and a Woodman 8 inch compact Bass Tube. I have posted a different review of the head unit and the subwoofer for which I have provided the links below. Please note though that my technical knowledge in terms of speakers and audio is severely limited; and this Sony XS-FB693E review is more from a layman’s point of view.
Sony XS-FB693E Review
Sony is one of the giants when it comes to electronics; specially audio systems. The live up to the expectations with these speakers as well. Matched with a good unit, these speakers produce an overall balanced sound quality with a punchy bass. The mounting depth of the speakers is among the shallowest which makes them easy to install in any car. These are 3 way speakers which means you can get the same balanced bass, mids and highs.

On the cons side, the high power handling of the speakers is at 420 Watts which is decent enough but the continuous power handling is at 50 watts which is a bit lower. If you are someone who listens to music always at the highest volume on regular basis, this can cause the sound to distort a little and eventually cause damage to the speaker in log run. But remember, this is only if you always keep the volume of your stereo at high.
Final verdict is that Sony XS-FB693E are good car speakers at an affordable price. The sound quality is good enough for an average listener and these speakers will serve you well as long as you don’t push them too hard, too often.
Price
I bought these speakers from a local dealer which kind of was a mistake. I got them installed and checked the price online a few days later. Turned out, I ended up paying almost Rs. 600 more than what the online price was. It just kind of made me feel so stupid; since I bought the head unit online from Amazon and could very well have bought the speakers as well at a considerably lower price.
