One afternoon, I stepped out of my house to get a pack of cigarettes from the shop across the street. While on my way, I noticed a couple of kids, a boy and a girl, playing right in front of my house. They could not have been more than 4-5 years old, though the girl looked a little older than the boy. What immediately caught my attention was the nature of their conversation. The boy was asking the girl to marry him but she wasn’t interested.
“Mere ko nahi karni tere se shaadi” The girl replied, nodding her head in no.
“Kyun?” Boy looked a little hurt by her denial.
“Bas nahi karni toh nahi karni” The girl replied. She was more interested in playing with her toy than listening to what the boy had to say.
“Please kar le na” He insisted.
“Nahi aur ab agar tune phir kaha toh main chali jaoongi yahan se”
“Kar le na” He still asked, ignoring her warning.
I guess she must have gotten annoyed by his persistence so she got up and started to walk away. He on the other hand still wasn’t ready to give up and shouted after her,
“Kar le na please. Behen nahi hai?”
