Where to stay in Spiti and best hotels is one of the most frequent questions I get asked so thought to put together this information on one page. Below is a list of some good hotels in Spiti valley; actually on the entire circuit. Name and feedback was provided by other fellow travelers who went to the region and were kind enough to share feedback.
Recommended and Best Hotels in Spiti
Hotels at Kalpa
- Hotel Rakpa Regency – Contact person is Rajkumar @ 080453255038. Room rent is around 800 (whatever he say just bring him down to 800 bucks). They have hotels in Chitkul , Nako as well (rate same . ask rajkumar to call Mr. Negi at Nako )
- Kinner Villa – Clean, comfortable, well located and great view of Kinner Kailash. Little expensive for facilities provided.
- Hotel Parvati – Great place to stay with a great view
Hotels at Kaza
- Hotel Delek House – Contact Person, Shirling @ 094597 03488
- Hotel Deyzor – An excellent place, and the food is incredible (even grown in their own greenhouse). Well located, with good amenities, and high attention to detail. Karan, the proprietor, is a great guy & friend.
- Hotel Spiti Valley – Owned by Mr. Tanzin Rabgay and is located right opposite Kaza Monastery. Very awesome host and very friendly guy. Highly recommended to everyone visiting Kaza. His phone number is 9418927312
Hotels at Rampur
- HPTDC Bushar Residency – Clean & reasonable.
Hotels at Chitkul
- Samaa Resorts – Run by a warm couple. Very nice location, good food, homely feel.
Hotels at Nako
- Kinner Camps – Swiss tents. Great location (above lake and near viewpoint), good food. Can spend time with Sangha the friendly Tibetan Mastiff.
Hotels at Tabo
- Tashi Khangsar (same owner as Tiger’s Den). Clean, comfortable, good lawn & location (behind town center and monastery, but not on main road either).
Camps at Chandratal
- Jamaica’s Camps. Best place to stay at Chandratal. Other camp sites may have slightly better tents but they have no idea on how to treat their guests. People staying at some other camp sites were complaining of bad food and other problems. One camp site owner was even so drunk that he did not cook for his guests at all. At Jamaica however, you will be treated royally and will remember the evening spent.
- Parasol Tents – If staying at Jamaica’s did not work and he was completely full then you can try Parasol Camps. Nice hospitality and food. Bishen, the proprietor, is a warm & humorous host.

Planning a visit to Spiti valley along with Kalpa Kinnaur from 21st September to 8th October, 2024. Have prepared the following itinerary. Need your advice related to the trip, whether any modification needed or not?
Day Places to visit
1 Departure from Durgapur by Sealdah New Delhi Rajdhani Express in evening. Overnight train journey
2 Arrival New Delhi Railway Station. Lunch at Station. Transfer to Chandigarh by 12005 Kalka Shatabdi or by 22685 train (Mon/Fri). Check into Hotel Hyatt Centric Sector 17 or Novotel Chandigarh Tribune Chowk or similar. Dinner at Hotel
Night stay at Chandigarh.
3 After Breakfast visit to Rock Garden (9:00 – 11:00). Check out from Hotel at 11:30. Visit ISKCON temple and proceed to Shimla (116 km / 5 hours) On the way visit Pinjore Garden and then have lunch on the way. Arrival Shimla at 18:00 hrs Check in at Hotel Summit Re Loyal or Hotel Larisa or Rock Castle by DLS or Welcome Heritage Elysium Resort and Spa or similar. Visit the Mall, the Ridge, Christ Church and Kali Bari. Dinner in Hotel.
Night stay at Shimla (7238 feet)
4 After Breakfast checkout from Hotel at 9:00 hrs and proceed to Narkanda (65 km / 3 hours) with stopover at Kufri, Fagu and Theog. Lunch on the way. Arrival Narkanda at 15:00 hrs and check in to Hotel HPTDC Hatu or Tethys Ski resort or similar. Visit apple orchards

5 Early morning short trek and visit to Hatu peak and temple. After breakfast Checkout from Hotel at 9:30 hrs. Proceed to Sarahan (100 km / 4 hours) via Rampur and Jhakri. Arrival Sarahan (Gateway to Kinnaur) at 14:00 hrs, Check in to Hotel HPTDC Shrikhand. Visit Bhimakali temple and surroundings, Hawa Mahal, oldest mahal and Narasingh temple

7 After breakfast visit nearby bird park and then checkout from hotel at 9:30 hrs and proceed to Rakchham (108 km / 6 hours) via Sangla. On the way visit Kamru Fort, Kamaksha Devi temple, Tibetan wood carving centre, Bering Nag temple, Buddhist monastery – all around Sangla and then arrival at Rakchham at around 16:00 hrs. Check in to Hotel Batseri Sangla or Hotel Rupin Riverview or Banjara Valley Retreat. Dinner at Hotel Batseri

Early morning tea beside Baspa river. After breakfast full day sightseeing of Chitkul (last village on Indo Tibet border) and surroundings. Lunch at Hotel Rupin Riverview or Banjara Valley Retreat (45 km / 3 hours)

8 After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Kalpa (55 km / 3 hours) via Reckong Peo (district head quarter of Kinnaur). Arrival Kalpa at around 13:00 hrs and check into Hotel Rollingrang Or Kinner Villa or Hotel Parvati
Afternoon sightseeing to Roghi village and visit to Narayan Nagin temple and Suicide point

9 Enjoy early morning sunrise and views of Mount Kinnaur Kailash mountain and visit to Bhaba valley and Chandika temple. After breakfast check out from hotel at 9:00 hrs and proceed to Tabo (225 km / 8 hours) via Pooh, Khab, Nako lake, Sumdo, Gue monastery, Hurling. Lunch at Nako, last hamlet of Kinnaur. Visit Gue monastery on the way which has a naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk and is more than 500 years old. Arrival Tabo (entrance to Spiti valley) at 17:00 hrs and check in to Hotel Mentok Dumra or Grand Dewachen or White Lotus Home Stay or Green Tara Home Stay.

10 After early breakfast, check out from hotel at Tabo and drive to Pin valley National Park (90 km / 5 hours). On the way visit Dhankar Monastery and Kungri monastery and then reach the beautiful hamlet of Mudh – last motorable village in Pin valley

12 After breakfast, checkout from homestay and proceed to Kaza (130 km / 7 hours) via Demul. On arrival at Kaza visit Langza village and fossil park, then Hikkim village which has the highest post office in the world and then Komic village which is the highest village with motorable road. Check into Spiti Valley Hotel or Blue Mountain Hotel & Cage or Himalayan Hermitage or Phuljung homestay or Hotel Deyzor. Night stay at Kaza (13800 feet)
After breakfast visit to Kee monastery which is the biggest monastery located on top of a hill near Spiti river. Then visit Kibber village which is the second highest village in Asia and Chicham bridge which connects Chicham to Kibber, Gette, Tashigong

13 After early breakfast, check out from Kaza at 6:30 hrs and proceed towards Sissu via Lossar, Kunzum pass and Chandratal Lake (190 km / 7 hours). On the way visit Kumzum Pass temple and then hike to Chandratal lake (should reach before 11:00 hrs). Arrival Sissu at 17:00 hrs via Gramphu, Koksar and check in to Hotel Bluevar Alpine or Hobknob Sissu or Ramblers Nest.

15 After breakfast, check out from Sissu and visit Keylong and Jispa. If time permits visit Baralacha Pass along with Deepak and Suraj tal and then proceed to Manali via Atal Tunnel and Solang valley. Arrival Manali at 16:00 hrs and check in to Hotel Woodrock or Orchard Greens Resort or Bookmark Resort. (160 km / 5 hours)

Hi, we are visiting spiti Valley from 2nd June to 10th June, ex Delhi. Route is shimla sangla kalpa tabo kaza chandrataal manali. We have a scheduled stay at chandrataal on 8th .Since kunzum pass is closed and in case does not open before that we have to return from kaza via shimla route. Which places can we visit/stay on this route for 2 days?

Kinner at Nako is hardly ‘Swiss tents’ – it’s a regular tent, low for anyone more than 5’, with a very poorly setup toilet and bath. Very cement, with leaking sink. The compound of the property looks like a dump with random plastic, wire fences, bottles etc strewn all over. We stayed on our way back from Kaza, they had just completed setting up our tents anew, it was dusty and the toilets of both our tents were simply terrible. Don’t recommend staying there, though Ramesh and the other staff are quite wonderful. The owner hasn’t taken a look at his ‘Swiss tents’ for sometime obviously.

We are adventure freaks and hence would love to do this trip on a bike. I own a Harley Super Glide + RE Himalayan. We also have a back up Gypsy vehicle that’d follow us thought out the route. Hi Vargis, I am planning spiti circuit in last week of July 19. Me and my wife do we need to book for chandraral camps beforehand or can it be booked just after reaching there.
July is monsoon season and chances of landslide and as recommended we will be having one buffer day. What about advance booking at Manali or nako or mud village. What do you recommend.

You will accommodation on the spot in Spiti and Chandratal as well. You may want to book at other places en route though.

No it is not hectic.
When you are in Kaza and if the road to Manali is open, you can exit that way as well rather than coming back to Shimla.
