For everyone planning to take on the challenge of crossing Sach Pass this year, there is a bit of bad news. The mighty pass is expected remain “officially” closed for coming few weeks as well. As per the authorities, there has been extensive damage to roads this season due to which restoration work is still not complete. Pass was to schedule to reopen for vehicular traffic in late July but with Monsoon hitting the region in July and August; It would be hard to declare it safe to travel in coming few weeks.
However there are reports that the road is “unofficially” open which means that people are still using to commute. It is however highly advised to not take the chance until authorities declare it open which can be somewhere towards end of August or early September. This road is very challenging and you can get stranded here if in trouble. Further, monsoon causes ample landslides in this region so if the authorities think it’s not safe to travel on the road yet; you are better off taking their advice and postpone your plan by a few weeks.

Officially it is still closed Avishay however locals are still using the road unofficially. Road is currently in very bad condition and authorities will keep it closed for this season.
