Sony C400 Earphones Review – Overpriced and Disappointing

For as long as I can remember, I have always been a fan of Sony when it came to audio. From the first Walkman that I bought in School to the recent mp3 players and headphones; I have always preferred to buy a Sony product for music. My most recent purchase was a Sony WI-C400 Wireless Stereo in-Ear Headphone which unfortunately I ended up returning on the very same day that I bought it. Considering that it was a Sony product and the price they were charging for it, I was hoping for something really amazing. But unfortunately, Sony C400 Earphones are really a very below average product that fails to live up to the name. Below is a brief review of how I found these earphones to be and why a Sony-fan like me chose to not use it and return.

My main purpose of buying these earphones was to use it in the gym or while running outdoors. And for this use, I really needed a wireless headphone. I am not saying that the wired earphones are bad but the wireless ones just make it a bit easier to handle them during workouts. My current earphones were of a company called Sencer which I bought online in an Amazon sale; mostly because It had good reviews and I was getting it cheap. The product turned out to be really good actually and I have been using it for last few months without any problem at all. Sound quality is good for the price I paid and overall it was a satisfactory headphone.

The only problem with Sencer was of battery life which was no more than 4 hours at most. Because of this, I thought to change the earphones after a while and decided to buy Sony this time. After a lot of research and reading plenty of reviews, I finalized on Sony C400 earphones and ordered these from Amazon. I have the prime membership of Amazon so the earbuds were delivered the very next day. Services of Amazon were good. I received a brand new, well packed item as promised.

Performance

Disappointment however happened as soon as I unpacked the package and started to listen to some music. I tried the earphones with a Samsung phone and an IPhone. I then paired it with my computer and tried listening to music there as well. This was probably the first Sony product that I was so disappointed with. The sound quality was just about average at best. Bass was missing completely and these weren’t loud enough. Volume is way too soft; and I was sure that If I kept these earphones and used these in the Gym, I would be listening to all the outside noise more than the music.

Next comes the connectivity issue. The range is quite short and there was frequent disconnection even within the same room. I kept the phone in my pocket and it was getting disconnected while I was walking around. The earphones boosts of 20 hours of battery life but since I used it only for a day, I cannot really comment on that. Now let us come to phone calls where the product disappoints the most. The person on the other end could barely hear me and there was a constant crackling noise throughout the calls.

Price

The price of these earphones is well beyond Rs. 3000 and it is not at all worth it. I would have kept them if Sony was charging Rs. 500 but with Rs. 3,450 price tag, it is a complete waste of money and I would recommend that you do not buy. I hope the review above was of help.
