Srinagar is one of the most visited tourist destinations in our country and as such, hotels here are in abundance. Come to Srinagar anytime and you can be sure that you will have no problem finding a place to stay. Even Dal Lake is actually filled with hotels in form of houseboats. But my preferred choice of accommodation whenever I visit Kashmir is Hotel Grand Valley Inn.
It is a wonderful place to stay in an impeccable location. In this post, I want to share how my experience with this hotel has been and why I always recommend it to anyone visiting Kashmir.

Hotels in Srinagar City
The common thing among all good hotels is that all have nice clean rooms with good smelling bed sheets and towels. That is more like a given factor because, without it, they won’t survive in the industry too long.
But what sets a hotel apart in my experience is how the people over there treat you. It is the service that really makes a difference.
The second thing that wins more customers for any hotel, I believe, is its location. When you are out on a vacation, you would love to stay at a place where you can get an amazing view every time you look out of the window.
You would want to be located at a place from where you can easily access all other tourist spots. This is where Hotel Grand Valley Inn wins hands down.
Hotel Grand Valley Inn
I must first admit though that I did not quite come across this hotel all on my own. It was recommended to me by Faisal who runs his motorcycle rental agency in Srinagar and is always my go-to person when it came to anything about planning a trip to Kashmir.
It was he who recommended Hotel Grand Valley Inn to me. I stayed here on his advice and I must say that I am glad I did.
This hotel is not really a large establishment. That in my opinion was one of the greatest factors. The owner of the hotel is a great gentleman; a very humble and soft-spoken person.
They live nearby and it is the family itself that runs the hotel so you know that you are in good hands. He will personally be listening to you and will ensure that you are well taken care of as long as you stay with him.

I think it is the only hotel where I have seen the owner personally receiving all of his guests right at the gate. That really makes a difference.
Everywhere else, you just check into a room, talk to the staff and check out. You are just another customer but at Grand Valley Inn, you actually get treated like a guest.
If you have booked your stay in advance, you can rest assured that the owner himself will call to inquire about your travels, and safety and then will receive you at the gate.
What’s more? I think this is the only hotel from where I got a call back after coming home just to inquire that I have reached home safely.
Location
This will be the second-best thing about Hotel Grand Valley Inn. Dal Lake, Nishat Bagh, and Shalimar Bagh are the 3 biggest attractions of Srinagar and they are all located in close proximity.
From the hotel, Shalimar Bagh is merely a 2 minutes walk away. Nishat Bagh and Dal Lake are just 10 minutes away. Other tourist places like Pari Mahal, Nigeen Lake, Tulip Garden, Naseem Bagh, Astanmarg, Shankaracharya Temple, Hari Parbat Fort, etc are just 15 mins of a drive away.
Another added benefit is that this hotel is located away from traffic or crowded areas. While staying here, you can be sure that there will be no continuous honking of horns coming through your window. It is in a very peaceful locality, perfect for staying with families.
Behind the hotel, in the backdrop, is an amazing view of the mountains, picture below.

Rooms
The rooms were all very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and large enough for even 3 people to fit in easily. The bathroom too was very clean with an English-style toilet seat.
Running hot water was available. The bedsheets were all very clean and the blanket quite warm.
Service
The service at the hotel was very great. The food was quite delicious. They have a kitchen on the ground floor that can serve meals as per your liking.
Even if you do not want to eat at the hotel, Shalimar Bagh is merely 2 minutes away and there is a huge market right in front of it with several restaurants where you can eat.
The owner was a great host who will personally ensure that all your requirements are very well attended to. They are very humble people who live nearby so even if there was any problem in Srinagar, they will ensure your safety even if it meant accommodating you in their own home.

Internet
Wi-Fi is available at the hotel at about 100 Mbps speed. During my latest visit, since I could not be away from work completely, I brought my office laptop along.
I logged in from the hotel whenever required, went on calls, and completed my work. The speed of the net was great and the connection was stable.
Hotel Grand Valley Inn – Conclusion
My final verdict would be that Hotel Grand Valley inn is a great place to stay in Srinagar and I highly recommend it. You can contact them at 9906571500 to book your stay. I hope the information above was of help. You can see more pictures of the hotel at the Forum Post.

I am planning for a road trip to J&K from Delhi with family this August but after going through your posts I am confused where to go as there are lot of places I think I must visit but due to the paucity of time I may have to limit it to maximum 7 days as a first time visitor to the state what would be the better option for me. Since I am using road, I will get only 3 days out of the 7 days. Kindly suggest. Thanks in advance.

If you only have 7 days, I strongly urge that you fly to Kashmir rather than driving there
Virgisbhai, I just visited Kashmir from 11-20 August, and based on your suggestion, I chosen Grand Valley Inn, it was really great stay there! I also gave your reference, and he said yeah, Virgisbhai was here for a couple of months during corona time.
