Sri Durga Automobiles Review

by Vargis.Khan

Sri Durga Automobiles is an authorized dealer of Mahindra. They have 3 outlets in Delhi as far as I know, one in Dwarka, another at Rama Road, and a third one at Moti Nagar. I recently purchased a Mahindra Thar CRDE and in the process, had a chance to deal with Sri Durga Automobiles as I live in Janakpuri and their outlet in Dwarka is quite near to my place, just a 10 mins drive. The overall experience I must admit was highly disappointing and I ended up buying from a different dealer in the end. Here is a short review, detailing the series of events that led me to dump Sri Durga and go to a different dealer in the end.

Poor Customer Service: Usually at automobile showrooms, they assign one of their sales representatives to a deal and that one person deals with the customer until the delivery of the vehicle. This is not the case with Sri Durga. When I visited them for the first time, I spoke to a guy who gave me a brief overview of how much the vehicle was going to cost, how much can the loan be and how much would I have to pay in cash. The person who came to my place to collect the paperwork and initiate the deal the next day was different. The second person then left their showroom a few days later and they assigned an entirely different person. When I visited them for the second time, I spoke to two entirely different people. When I went there for the third and last time, I was speaking to a new guy all over again. So in a period of three weeks and to buy one vehicle, I had to speak and explain things to at least 6 different people. Apart from this, they made false promises, contradictory statements, and even went to the level of annoying me which I will explain later in the article. Customer’s convenience to these guys is of no matter at all.

Transparency: When I visited them for the first time, below is a picture of what I was provided with as on-road price of a Mahindra Thar CRDE. Including everything, I was quoted an on-road price of Rs. 8, 74,052 out of which I was asked to make a down payment of Rs 2, 54,052 and a loan amount of Rs. 6, 20,000. This price later changed to Rs. 8,78,108 on my second visit. A few days later, price got revised to Rs. 8,83,988. What is even shocking? Without my knowledge at all, they started the loan process on their own and put down the price of the vehicle at Rs. 8,89,388 on Bank documents. For the car loan, I was first told that the loan is getting done by ICICI bank, later it changed to Yes Bank. The first guy told me that the loan value would be Rs. 6.2 lacs, the second guy said it is Rs. 6.5 lacs and in the end loan amount turned out to be Rs. 6 lacs.

All this was happening because of the fact that I was speaking to a different person every time I called or went to the showroom. There was no clarity or transparency at all.

Contradictory Statements: My choice of color for Thar was black which they told me was available. I had informed well in advance that I will take delivery of the car after three weeks. They asked me for a cheque of Rs. 20k as booking amount which I gave. Three weeks later, I was told that they do not have the black one anymore as it was sold out and now only have White and Red as color options. When asked that that happened to the fact that I booked the car, they told me that 20k was not enough to book a car worth 8 lacs. Now this amount of 20k is something they themselves asked and never informed me that I need to pay more. Nonetheless, I said no for any other color and they told me that they will arrange a black one again. Two days later, when I called them in the morning to inform that I was coming down to make down payment, they clearly refused for a black Thar and said that they will not be able to arrange it. What is even interesting, the same day after I had the deal finalized with another dealer, they called me back in the evening saying that a Black Thar has been arranged. When I mentioned the call from the morning, they refused to acknowledge the fact that they themselves told me that wouldn’t be able to arrange for it.

False Promises: In order to get me to buy from them, one of their sales representatives (the second guy who cam to my place and collected the booking amount) promised me free accessories worth 20k which later they refused.

No respect for customer’s convenience: Even thought I told them that I will take delivery the next month, they kept calling me every day asking me to come to the showroom to finalize the deal. I mentioned that I am busy at work and would need a few more days but the calls still continued. When I stopped answering, they started to message me on cell and even Watsapp stating that the price of the car is about to increase, that the road tax would also increase by 30k in a few days and I must hurry.

They presented me with a white Thar which kind of looked cool and for a while I did consider buying. They sensed it and tried their level best to sell me that. I would even have bought it If it wasn’t for the fact that they had accessories installed on it some of which, as per them, couldn’t be removed and they literally tried tricking me in to buying it with the overpriced accessories and pay 50k more.

In the end, my experience with these guys was so disastrous that I would never recommend them to anyone at all.
