Blue flower isn’t really that uncommon, even roses come in blue color I believe. However what really interested me about the flower in the picture below was that it was the only flower that of a different color amidst thick greenery. There were a lot of flowers around but most of them were either a shade of red or yellow and this only blue flower presented such a high contrast that I couldn’t resist stopping my Thar and click a few pictures.
Picture above is slightly edited of course. I desaturated all the other colors to highlight the blue a little more. I did this in Photoshop and the trick is quite a simple one really. Let me know if you would like to know how and I can post a quick step by step tutorial.
Here is the original and unedited version of the flower.
As I said, shades of green, yellow and red all around and this was the only flower that stood out., looking quite stunning if you asked me.
If you noticed in this picture, the flower is kind of purple towards the bottom and turns deep blue on the petals. I do not know the name of this flower but I saw quite a few of these and in multiple colors during my trip to Lansdowne, a small hill station in Uttarakhand. It was the monsoon season so greenery and flowers were in ample.
Camera I used was my Nikon D7000. Initially I had the 18-105 lens mounted however the flower was a little deep inside the bushes and away from the road due to which I my 18-105 wasn’t quite doing the job even at full focus. I switched to Nikon 70-300 lens, mounted it on the tripod and clicked these shots at full 300 focus.
