I just wanted to share a few Shalimar Bagh photos that I clicked during my trips to Kashmir. It is a nice spot to spend a beautiful evening with your family if you ever went visiting Kashmir. There is an entire market in front of the garden with plenty of eateries.
So you can stay here till late evening and have your dinner at the restaurants in front. There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 24 per person. Children’s entry is free. The garden remains open well after sundown, until around 8 PM in the summer season. It closes a little early in the winter months.
The camera I used was my recently bought Nikon D7200. I actually bought the camera especially before this trip because my Nikon D7000 was starting to give a little trouble.
So these shots and the trip were also a test ride for my new camera. All these pictures were taken at the time of sunset.
Shalimar Bagh Photos
The evening I clicked these shots was after a long trip from Gulmarg to Doodhpathri and then back to Srinagar. So by the time we reached the garden, we were all pretty tired. I too wasn’t really in much of a mood to get into photography.
The pictures however I think turned out to be all right.
Considering the time, I was really hoping that they would bring up the lights at night. I actually waited for it to get dark so I could get some late-night shots with colorful lights and the fountains.
To my utter disappointment, they turned off all the fountains by dusk. As it got darker, the only lights available in the park were the ones near the gate. I did manage to get some decent enough shots though.
Later Trips
During my later trips, I visited the garden a few more times, both during sunset and during the day. The pictures below are from those trips.
