Just wanted to share the below images of Shalimar Bagh that I recently clicked during my trip to Kashmir. The evening I clicked these shots were after a long trip from Gulmarg to Doodhpathri and then back to Srinagar. So by the time we reached the garden, we were all pretty tired and I too wasn’t really in much of a mood to get into photography. The pictures however I think turned out to be all right.
Camera I used was my recently bought Nikon D7200. I actually bought the camera specially before this trip because my Nikon D7000 was starting to give a little of trouble. So these shots and the trip was also a test ride for my new camera. All these pictures were taken at the time of sunset.
The garden remains open well after sundown; until around 8 PM, and I am talking about the month of August. I am sure it closes earlier in winter months. Considering the time, I was really hoping that they would bring up the lights at night. I actually waited for it to get dark so I could get some late night shots with colorful lights and the fountains. To my utter disappointment, they turned off all the fountains by dusk; and as it got darker, the only lights available in the park were the ones near the gate.
I did manage to get some decent enough shots though. Hopefully the next time I am in Shalimar Bagh, I will be able to manage to get some better shots. It is a nice spot to spend a beautiful evening with your family if you ever went visiting Kashmir. There is an entire market in front of the garden with plenty of eateries so you can stay here till late evening and have you dinner at the restaurants in front. There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 24 per person; children entry is free.
I hope you liked the pictures. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments section below; or at our Community Forum; and I will be glad to answer.
