I am an oceanographer by profession and was working as a Scientist in the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa for close to 30 years. I hold a doctorate from University of Paris and has been a visiting scientist at the University of West Brittany, France for about 15 years. My research areas were many in biological and chemical oceanography, but since 1995, I specialized in marine biodiversity, notably on conservation of coral reefs, which also led to my learning SCUBA diving. I have served in many national and international committees and am fairly well-known in the marine scientific community in India. Presently, I work as a consultant in the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. I enjoy out-door life and twice drove 600 km in the Empty Quarters (the largest desert region in Saudi Arabia). You might simply call me a well-known oceanographer, comfortable with out-door life.
