This will be a dedicated post for Sach Pass status 2018. Like last year<\/a><\/strong>, I will continue updating the status on opening and closing of the pass; along with the road conditions as the year progresses.\u00a0 Apart from the blog post here, I will also start a sticky thread at our Community Forum where other members of the forum can also shared their updates. Update provided by Nitin Bhai who just returned from Sach.<\/p>\n

“Visited last week , road from bairagarh till udaipur is bad with lots of snow at sach pass.
\nthe nallah\u2019s are in good shape till killar.
\nKillar is flooded with bikers and other tourists so better book in advance over phone as rooms are not available, no electricity and limited options of food , fuel is available near raju hotel @ 100 rs per litre.”<\/p>\n

Update: May 24th<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Sach Pass is now open or vehicular traffic. Vehicles from both sides of the pass were successfully able to cross over. A friend of mine too drove over from Bairagarh to Killar yesterday. Update: May 9th<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Surprise Surprise !! It is the month of May and the spell of late snowfall still continues. Valleys of Lahaul and Spiti and Passes of Rohtang, Kunzum, Sach and Baralacha all received fresh snowfall yesterday. This is definitely bound to delay the opening of all routes including Rohtang Pass, Sach Pass, Manali Leh and Manali Kaza routes. For now, the estimate is that Sach Pass will probably not open until 3rd week of May at earliest. Below is a pic of Kaza after fresh snowfall in Spiti yesterday. There is forecast that more snow is on the way.<\/p>\n

Update: April 30th<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

In March this year, every pass was expected to open early this year because of less snow. Then the sudden change in weather in April and all the late snowfall changed everything and opening of Rohtang, Kunzum and Manali Leh road got delayed again. One pass however is still opening early which is Sach Pass. Snow has been cleared almost all the way to the top with only last 2 – 3 kilometers left. If there is no change in weather, snow should be cleared within a week or so post which authorities will check the road in terms of safety. If all seems OK, the road will be declared open by Mid May.<\/p>\n

Update: April 21st<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Winter this year arrived very late at Rohtang and other nearby passes. BRO was able to clear the snow off Rohtang completely and were hopeful that they will be able to reopen Manali Leh highway by April 20th but due to recent spells of snow, they had to shut down Rohtang Pass again. It has been snowing at top of the passing at regular intervals due to which opening of Rohtang, Kunzum Pass, Sach Pass, Manali Leh and Manali Kaza stretch will definitely get delayed. There is no confirmed date yet about opening of all these places.<\/p>\n

Even Srinagar Leh highway which was opened several weeks ago was closed again yesterday due to snowfall at Zojila top.<\/p>\n

Update: April 4th<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Rohtang Pass will be declared open sometime next week. Snow is now left on less than a kilometer towards Rohtang Top from Manali Side. BRO is hopeful to have it all cleared this week post which the pass will open sometime next week. Once this happens, the stretch from Manali side will be all open till Killar as the route is already open around Keylong and Udaipur.<\/p>\n
