Western Digital is one of the largest hard disk drive manufacturers in the world and if you are looking to buy a hard disk, you cannot skip considering a Western Digital product. I recently purchased a WD Elements 2TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive and here is a short review of my experience with the product.<\/p>\n

WD Elements 2TB<\/p><\/div>\n

This hard disk has a very simple plug and play feature. Just take it out of the box, plug in to your computer and it is ready for use. There is no user manual because it doesn\u2019t really need one because of its ease of use. Unlike some of the older hard disk, it does not require an external power source and works absolutely fine by just plugging in to USB port. Its power consumption is quite low and even after transferring GBs of data, it would barely feel warm so no heating problem as well. It is fitted with a USB 3.0 port and has a maximum data transfer speed of up to 5120 MBPS which I believe is more than sufficient for simple home use. It is decently small in size making it conveniently portable and is quite light in weight too. There are four small rubber pads at the bottom of the disk to keep it secure in one place. The outer is nothing fancy but is scratch resistant, definitely a welcomed feature. There is no sound at all and you would really need to touch the drive to know if it is even alive after plugging in to your computer. Price of the hard disk is at par with what other companies are offering so not really much of complaint there.<\/p>\n

Some of the features it lacks, which are available in some top-notch external hard drives are like a backup software (which comes with WD passport for an additional fee), any type of encryption. Another area where it disappoints is the one year warranty which in my opinion is quite less. I was expecting at least a 2 to 3 year warranty considering that some of the companies out there offer up to 5 years of warranty on their hard disks. My final verdict is that if you are just looking for a simple plug in and play, easy to use hard disk for your home or office computer than this is the for you. I have tested it on Xbox as well and it works like magic. I tried it on both Windows and Linux without any problem. Friend of mine is using it on Mac as well. However if you are looking for a highly durable and rich in features hard disks, then you are bound to get disappointed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
