The first is that there are no set or decided rates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is a rate list for sure, but it is not really enforced by the union like in the case of places like Ladakh and Manali. So if you were told that it is a standard rate and the union won&#8217;t allow going lower, don&#8217;t believe it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How much you pay for a taxi in Kashmir will entirely depend on your negotiation skills, the duration of the trip, and the places covered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The second thing to know is that the taxi you hire in Srinagar will not be allowed for sightseeing in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vargiskhan.com\/log\/gulmarg-kashmir\/\">Gulmarg<\/a><\/strong>, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam. All these three places have their own group of taxi drivers, and they do not allow non-local taxis to ply their routes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So for example, if you hire a taxi from Srinagar to Pahalgam, it will only drop you at Pahalgam. For visiting places like Aru Valley, Betab Valley, etc, you will have to rent a local Pahalgam taxi.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Should_you_rent_on_the_spot_from_the_Airport\"><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Should you rent on the spot from the Airport?<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I will not recommend it because then you will end up paying more. You will have to hire a local taxi from the airport or your hotel.
