Leh Palace also known as Lachen Palkar Palace is one of the prime attractions of Leh City. It was built in the year 1600 and used to be the residence of the royal family of Ladakh until the mid-19th century.<\/p>\n

After the Dogra forces of Jammu took over Leh City the royal family shifted from Leh Palace to Stok Palace. The palace remained abandoned for a long time after that and it was almost in ruins.<\/p>\n

The work to restore the palace is underway and has been completed to a large extent. The Royal family does not live there anymore but it still serves as one of the prime tourist attractions of Leh City.<\/p>\n
