Below is the most recent list of Kargil Taxi Union Rates. The list below contains rates for renting a taxi from Kargil for traveling toward Srinagar, Zanskar, and Batalik routes.<\/p>\n

The images of the rate list below are not too clear but if save it to your hard disk and zoom in, you will be able to read it clearly. I will also add the rates for some of the common routes here in the post as a quick reference.<\/p>\n

The most important thing to remember while renting a taxi in this region is that the local unions do not allow taxis outside of their district to ply their routes.<\/p>\n

So any taxi rented from Srinagar cannot be used for sightseeing in Zanskar and Ladakh. Kargil taxis cannot be used for sightseeing in Kashmir and Ladakh.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Ladakh rented taxis cannot be used for sightseeing in Zanskar and Kashmir. For example, if you rented a taxi from Kargil, it can only drop you at Leh city and Srinagar but you cannot use the same cab for visiting local tourist attractions in either of these places.<\/p>\n

Similarly, if you arrived in Kargil in a Leh or Srinagar registered cab<\/a><\/strong>, it is only good enough for dropping you at Kargil. If you want to travel toward Zanskar Valley, you will have to rent a local taxi from Kargil.<\/p>\n

I agree that it sounds like an expensive affair and an unnecessary hassle for tourists but that is the way it is out here. There is no other option or way to work around this.<\/p>\n
