I was recently on a road trip to Ladakh, Zanskar, and Spiti for 2 months. During this trip, while we were in Kargil for 3 days, one of our nights was spent in Hotel Royal Gasho. The post below is a brief narration of how our experience at this Hotel was and whether I will recommend it to others or not.<\/p>\n

I stayed at this hotel for just one night. Our booking was actually in another hotel for 3 days, Hotel Kargil heights, which is located quite close to Royal Gasho.<\/p>\n

But due to booking confusion, the staff at Kargil heights had to shift us to Royal Gasho for one day. We checked into this hotel in the evening and were shifted back to Kargil Heights in the morning of the next day.<\/p>\n

So the experience that I am sharing below is based on just this one night that I stayed at Hotel Royal Gasho. The overall experience was pleasant and I actually liked the hotel except for one small thing. Read on to find out more.<\/p>\n

Hotel Royal Gasho<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

With the recent boost in tourism in Ladakh, a lot of hotels have come up in the entire region of Leh Ladakh. Now you can find hotels and homestays in even the remotest of villages. The same is the case with Kargil as well.<\/p>\n

Being a major stopover on the route, there is really no dearth of hotels here. Hotel Royal Gasho is one of the many hotels scattered all over this small town.<\/p>\n

What I liked about the Hotel<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The hotel is very well built, looks quite modern, and has plenty of space around it. The rooms were spacious enough and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was changed on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

The hotel has western-style toilets. The bathroom was very large with hot running water throughout the day. Below are some pictures I clicked at the hotel.<\/p>\n

The hotel has a kitchen of its own. Our dinner and breakfast were included in the total fare I paid so we ate at the hotel only. The food served was acceptable even though the tea was not.<\/p>\n

There is plenty of parking space in the hotel. It is also located on the main road and close to the market area. You can even walk down to the Suru River in about 2 minutes from the hotel.<\/p>\n

The staff was friendly enough and the service was provided satisfactorily. Overall, our brief stay here was nothing that I will complain about. If required, I would not mind staying at this hotel once again the next time I am in Kargil.<\/p>\n

What I did not like<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

It was just one thing actually. The hotel is located right next to the main road that passes through Kargil and sees a lot of traffic. As a result, there was a constant sound of traffic and horns.<\/p>\n

It isn’t something that bothered us during the day. I did not even realize it actually until it was late in the night and time for us to sleep.<\/p>\n

The road also sees a lot of trucks passing by at night. Since the roads are narrow, the honking of horns was also frequent. Due to this, I ended up waking several times during the night.<\/p>\n

Even closing the windows did not help. Every time a passing-by truck honked the horn, I ended up losing my sleep.<\/p>\n

Hotel Royal Gasho – Conclusion<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Other than the sound of the traffic, our stay at Royal Gasho was a pleasant one. I do hope the hotel would do something about it in the future.<\/p>\n

Will I recommend it? Yes, I would. Bust just make sure that you ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. Avoid the ones on the front side of the hotel, the ones with windows facing the main road.<\/p>\n
