Stranger Things is an American science fiction-horror TV series. Its first season was released on Netflix in July 2016 and revolves around the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy in a small town. Second season was released in October 2017 and continues the story further.I just finished watching both the seasons and by the time it ended, the only word on my tongue was “awesome”. I totally loved the show and if you haven’t seen it, I must urge you to do so. It is among the best one that I have seen so far. With its amazing 80s atmosphere and creepy X-files meets E.T feel, I can guarantee that this show is definitely going to impress you.
So this is how the story goes and I will keep it short without any spoilers. A young boy named Will Byers goes missing in a small town called Hawkins in Indiana. His friends and mother start to look for him; and are thrust into a conspiracy involving a mysterious girl named Eleven; and something even more sinister hiding in the woods of their small town. From the very sound of it, it sounds a lot like Stephen king’s novel IT; or classic ’80s Spielberg like E.T., Close Encounters and JJ Abrams’ Super 8. As the show progresses, it becomes a dark and twisted ride into an even darker and more disturbing world; where the stakes feel higher than anything before it.

The characters of the show are the true stars here, I loved every single one of them. They were all great with amazingly interesting flaws and the way they mix and clash with one another was fun to see unfold. Production values are also quite good with some beautiful cinematography, editing, lighting and sound. The choice of the music too was simply great and adds to the whole 80s set up that this was picturised in.
I don’t think I have any cons to mention about the show. The only thing worth mentioning is about the CGI. Special effects were great and top notch in the first season; but in the second one, I somehow felt that they did not quite look up to the expectations; felt a bit cheesy overall. Apart from this, there is not much to complain about; and overall, stranger things is a fun ride that I would recommend to everyone.
