Spiti Valley in 14 Days – How to Draft your own Itinerary?

by Vargis.Khan

In this article, I will be sharing an example of an itinerary that can be followed while visiting Spiti valley in 14 days. The travel plans that I am sharing below are actually what I suggested to a few people who recently went to Spiti, and had 2 weeks in hand to explore all of it. I am copy-pasting their itineraries here in this post just for everyone’s information.

Your final itinerary will of course depend on several factors like how you are traveling; where are you traveling from; is there any budget restriction etc. But the details below should at least get you started on drafting your own travel plan.

Even if you are not able to follow the below itinerary to the last detail; you will at least have a fair enough idea on how you can travel on the Spiti circuit while making the most out of your time. If, after reading the article, you have any other questions then please feel free to ask in the comments area towards the bottom of this page.

For the sake of this article, I will assume that you are starting from Delhi. If however, you were coming from a different city then only the details for first and last day will have to be changed. The rest of the travel plan can still be followed.

To understand the route better, you may refer to the road map I posted at Lahaul Spiti Route Guide

The plan above is what I will recommend. This can be followed easily irrespective of whether you were traveling by your privately owned vehicle or public transport.

14 days is really sufficient enough time to fully explore Spiti Valley. You will be able to see most of the places that are there to see in the valley and will also not have to travel long distances on any day.

Mentioned below are a few other ways that this journey can be completed.

Spiti Valley 14 Days Itinerary # 2

The plan below is really a very ambitious one and will involve traveling for long hours on several days. But following this, you will be able to cover both Spiti Valley and Leh Ladakh.

In both Spiti and Ladakh, you will see almost all the major tourist places. The only catch however is that you can do this only if you were traveling by your own car or motorcycle. You cannot complete this itinerary in 14 days by public transport.

  • Delhi to Narkanda – Day 1
  • Narkanda to Chitkul while covering Sarahan on the way – Day 2
  • Chitkul to Nako while covering Kalpa on the way – Day 3
  • Kalpa to Nako to Tabo – Day 4
  • Tabo to Dhankar to Pin Valley to Kaza – Day 5
  • Sightseeing in Kaza – Day 6
  • Kaza to Chandratal – Day 7
  • Chandratal to Jispa – Day 8
  • Jispa to Leh – Day 9
  • Leh to Nubra Valley to Leh – Day 10
  • Leh to Pangong Tso – Day 11
  • Pangong Tso to Pang – Day 12
  • Pang to Manali – Day 13
  • Manali to Delhi – Day 14

Itinerary for 14 Days in Spiti Valley # 3

Let me now recommend an even more ambitious plan. This will see you cover Spiti Valley, Leh Ladakh, and Kashmir. A word of caution though. This itinerary means that most of your time will be spent on the road and you will have to miss out on several places on the route.

On a positive side though, this plan will see you covering both the Spiti and Leh Ladakh Circuit.

  • Delhi to Narkanda – Day 1
  • Narkanda to Sarahan to Chitkul – Day 2
  • Chitkul to Kalpa to Nako to Kaza – Day 3
  • Sightseeing in Kaza – Day 4
  • Kaza to Chandratal – Day 5
  • Chandratal to Jispa – Day 6
  • Jispa to Leh – Day 7
  • Leh to Nubra Valley to Leh – Day 8
  • Day trip to Pangong Tso and return to Leh – Day 9
  • Leh to Kargil – Day 10
  • Kargil to Srinagar – Day 11
  • Srinagar to Gulmarg or Pahalgam to Srinagar – Day 12
  • Srinagar to Jammu – Day 13
  • Jammu to Delhi – Day 14

14 Days in Spiti Valley – Itinerary # 4

The fourth itinerary that I am suggesting now will see you covering Spiti Valley and Sach Pass both. Once again, this can only be done if traveling by your own vehicle and not public transport.

I am starting the itinerary from Spiti Valley but you can actually do it the other way around; cover Sach Pass first and then return via Spiti Valley.

  • Delhi to Narkanda – Day 1
  • Narkanda to Chitkul – Day 2
  • Chitkul to Kalpa – Day 3
  • Kalpa to Nako – Day 4
  • Nako to Pin Valley – Day 5
  • Pin Valley to Kaza – Day 6
  • Kaza – Day 7
  • Kaza to Chandratal – Day 8
  • Chandratal to Jispa – Day 9
  • Jispa to Udaipur – Day 10
  • Udaipur to Killar – Day 11
  • Killar to Dalhousie – Day 12
  • Dalhousie to Delhi – Day 13
  • Buffer Day (Spend at a place of your liking) – Day 14

Conclusion

I hope the information above on visiting Spiti valley in 14 days was of help. If you have any other questions; or need any further details; please feel free to ask in the comments section below; or at our Community Forum; and I will be glad to answer.
