Sach Pass Closed for the year 2018

by Vargis.Khan

After the recent and heavy snowfall across Himalayas; and specially in Lahaul and Spiti Valleys; which saw numerous tourists stuck for several days; Sach Pass has been declared closed for the year 2018. There is a lot of snow and slush at top of the pass which has made crossing it now dangerous and too risky. On top of it, there is ongoing snowfall at both Rohtang and Baralacha La which means that the amount of snow now would just keep increasing. The check post at Satrundi has now been moved to Bairagarh and you will not be allowed to travel beyond anymore.

The road from Manali to Leh and Manali to Kaza is open still but it is just a matter of days before these get closed as well. Administration has restricted movement of vehicles on Manali Leh highway because of snowfall at several places and I won’t be surprised if they just decided to close it for good now. Kunzum Pass has already received plenty of snow so crossing this road too now is not safe anymore. Chandratal Lake is already buried under several feet of snow and is off limits; even for trekkers.

Sach Pass Closed

If you were planning to travel to Sach Pass in coming few days; then you will have to give up the plan for until next year. Sach Pass usually opens in early June and to be honest, it is more fun adventure to cross it then. Attempting to cross Sach Pass now is an unnecessary risk that I would highly advise you against. I hope the information above was of help.
