Quite honestly, I have never been a huge fan of iBall. I am not saying that their products are bad but for the same price, you can get a much better deal with some other company. Over a period of time, I have used a few of their products and in every case, it ended in disappointment. The last one in the list was iball dusky duo 06 wireless keyboard and mouse combo and this is a short review of how I found this product.
Before buying iBall, I have used wireless keyboards and mouse of several companies like Logitech, Dell and Microsoft. I bought IBall after I ended up losing the USB receiver of my Microsoft one. I was a bit apprehensive about buying it considering my past experience with iBall but then did so primarily because I was getting a good discounted price (not online, bought it from a computer store). The disappointment started quite soon and it wasn’t long that I started to regret my decision.
Design: The overall design of the keyboard is a little bulky and a bit heavier too as compared to other keyboard. The layout of the keys is a little different too and it would take a while before your fingers get used to it. The enter key is upside down; Delete, End, Page up/down are arranged in 3 rows and 2 columns instead of traditional 3 columns and 2 rows and you will tend to mishit initially. The build quality of the keyboard too is not that great and the plastic will break at even a small fall.
Mouse: Mouse started giving trouble surprisingly soon and I had to replace it with a wired mouse within couple of months. The roller ball was the first to go followed shortly by other problems like connectivity. It will stop working all of a sudden and I will have no choice but to reconnect to get it to working again. It barely lasted a few months.
Connectivity: It has a connectivity of up to 10 meters which I guess is the only good thing about it. No complaints here.
Keyboard: The keys are not comfortable at all. As I mentioned above, it will take some getting used to in initial few days and even after that, the keys will still feel weird while typing because you would have to press down a bit harder and will tend to mishit a lot. A few keys started giving trouble after a couple of months. For someone who writes a blog, it was such a pain for me to keep going back to keys because they just won’t work at a slight press. The second problem was of keys getting stuck which happened a lot. The situation just kept getting worse and the biggest surprise of all was when keys started to come off the board. See the picture below.
Final Verdict: This is not a product that I would recommend to anyone at all. This is the worst keyboard and mouse combo that I have ever used and will never go for iBall products again. Stay away from it. Throw in a few more hundreds and buy a Dell instead, it will serve you better.
