Good Budget Hotels in Leh Ladakh with Tariff

Finding budget hotels in Leh is not really that big a deal. Finding one as per your budget too is quite easy. Off-late this small town has been one of the most talked-about tourist spots in our country. Come summer and anyone who has even the slightest of interest in travel, adventure, or photography starts to plan a trip to Leh Ladakh.

The tourist rush has multiplied multiple times in the last few years. What was once known as an “Adventure destination” has now become a place for family vacations as well. As a result, hotels and guest houses in Leh are now ample in numbers and more come up each year.

If you too are planning a list to Ladakh anytime in near future, mentioned below is a list of a few recommended budget hotels in Leh city that you can consider for your stay. These are not five start luxurious hotels, but decent enough places for a stay.

If you are traveling during the peak tourist season, I will highly recommend booking your stay in advance. If you want to be sure, book your accommodation before departure. With the help of Cozycozy, you can also compare the various options and see the offers of various accommodation booking sites in one place.

Budget Hotels in Leh Ladakh with Tariff

These are just some budget hotels in Leh city that I have heard/read good reviews about. However as I mentioned above, Leh is filled with numerous hotels in all budget ranges. Hi.. I have planned to visit with my family (including kids) to Leh on 30th of December 2021. I have been regretting over my decision to visit this place in December. I just checked online about the hotel booking which almost shows no availability of 2rooms for 7 people. So I am just worried if I could get a budget hotel. I am so worried about the climate also. Is it necessary to book an hotel on advance?

Hi Vargis.
Your website is really awesome, such detailed coverage…it is a boon for anyone travelling to ladakh.
I am travelling to Ladakh from 13th-20th of September, 2021 (arriving on the morning of 13th, and leaving on the morning of 20th) along with my wife and one of her friends (total 3 of us). We will hire a private taxi over there (will contact Kunal )
We are planning to visit Nubra Valley, Pangong and Tso Moriri (or if you recommend Kargil, Nubra Valley, Pangong).
What should be our itinerary? We dont want our trip to be very hectic…also can we stay there in an airbnb? (Found one by Jigmet, very highly rated). We all are in early 30s (not so fit)
Also any other suggestions? Recommendations for booking hotel in a specific area??
Thanks in advance.

helpful and hard to figure out while planning
We are a bunch of 7 friends who are visiting Leh Ladakh from 23rd Aug to 31 Aug.
23rd Aug – 1pm we will land so we have the whole day.
31st we have our flight at 12pm so that day won’t be counted.

we want to visit:
Numbra
Zanskar
Thiksay
Pangong
and if any more recommendation then that would be great, want to visit Kargil too!
we also want to stay in camp for experience for a day maybe at pangong.

can you tell us how do we plan and how many days we should divide place wise and book accommodations accordingly depending on the route.
Also aware about the permits, will the hotel staff help us in sorting the same?
we also want to book 2 cars is there any contact for the same?

sorry too many questions, cause excitedd.

do let me knoww!

Hi Vargis Khan, I asked you a question about Hotel Horzay a couple of days ago. Do you have any insight?

Reply
Vargis.Khan March 1, 2019 - 12:20 pm

Hi Hans – Due to the tourist rush in Ladakh these days, I would definitely recommend booking in advance to avoid any last minute hassle. Expect the price to be around at least Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1200 per day for any hotel in Ladakh. You may be able to negotiate for a little less but assume this price for cost estimate.

I am sorry to bug you with another question besides the one about Leh: I will arrive from Europe 12:50am and my flight to Srinagar leaves at 7:30am. Is there anyplace to go to to pass the time or just hang out at the airport. Also due to scheduling I will have to spend a day near the Delhi airport before I can move on. Any suggestions for accommodation? Thanks again Vargis Khan

Reply
Vargis.Khan February 28, 2019 - 2:41 pm

There is really nowhere in Delhi that you can visit in a few hours Hans. The city traffic is maddening and you will just spend the time checking out of the airport, sitting in a cab and then checking back in.

Hans J Schlegel February 26, 2019 - 12:32 am

Hi Vargis Khan, you recommended Hotel Horzay, Old road, Leh. I would stay there from the 4. to the 18 of July. Is pre-booking necessary and do you know what the price would be at that time?

1. Location of bus stand (towards tso moriri & pangong tso)
Is it at JK SRTC bus stand near polo ground? Bus ticket must purchase a day before?

2. Permit (ILP & PAP)
Able to apply permit and get it immediately on sunday 16/9/18?

3. Any suggestion for best budget guest house which are near bus stand in leh?

Thank you & have a nice day.

Hi Yee,

1. Yes, it is near Polo ground.
2. You may get it but it depends on how fast the travel agent is able to organize it for you.
3. All the hotels I suggested above are quite good, you could pick any

3. I checked some of the location is quite far from bus stand. Must go with transport instead of by walk.

Hi, We are planning to visit Leh in First week of august. Given that its a peak season do you recommend booking hotel in advance or i will get good deals on the spot.

Reply
Kaustubh Kale June 29, 2018 - 12:44 pm

Hotel bookings are generally not required, on the spot booking is best as bargaining happens better and you get to see the place as well. Do not worry as such about peak season. There is enough supply for demand. However, you may want to book if you are travelling with your entire family and have few older members. Depends.

If you need the best rates, you need to visit and bargain. Most advance bookings happen generally at higher prices. Atleast that is my personal experience.

Reply
Vargis.Khan June 25, 2018 - 2:18 pm

They will always quote you higher Yolmo. Best way out is to reach there and book an on the spot deal. For advance booking, they will ask you for a higher price.

Thanks for all the information brother. I wanted to know if one intends to stay a little away from the market place like Glacier View Guest House/Hotel Horzay, how easy is it to get to the market place for the work related to ILP and hunting for shared taxis.

Reply
Kaustubh Kale June 25, 2018 - 2:16 pm

Horzay to Market would be like 800m-1000m, there are many short cuts available. I stayed in Gongma which is very close to Horzay. Glacier View also as per my knowledge is very close to Horzay. All walking distance upto the bus stop and market (either sides). Shared taxis for Nubra are at Polo Ground which is walkable if solo traveller, else if with family take a taxi.

Reply
Vargis.Khan June 25, 2018 - 2:19 pm

Leh is a very small town. You can walk across it from one end to another in less then an hour so you will never really be too far from the market.

Hi Vargis,

Hope you are doing well. I had posted this question earlier as well but my mind did not make up about. We are travelling at end of June 29th June to Leh from Mumbai via flight and are returning back on 8th July. Had a concern of hotel bookings and bike bookings. We all are gent for that matter and staying wont be aprobs but want to know if any prior booking is required. Similarly for bikes as well. Is any booking required, you recommended last time to select the bikes when we reach there it self. Just worried about the availability due to the peak season for both accomodation and bike rental. Can innerline permit be taken online?

Reply
Vargis.Khan June 8, 2018 - 11:56 am

Hi Prashant – I have never had anyone come back and tell me that they faced any problem finding a hotel in Leh irrespective of the time they went. If however it gives you peace of mind then yes, you may decide to book. Motorcycles I will not recommend booking in advance though because you must test ride it before finalizing. Booking in advance will mean that you have paid already and will be stuck with whatever motorcycle they decide to give you.

Hey Vargis,

Thanks for your inputs about the accomodation and all. We stayed at Glacier View resort on 29th jun , 4th July , 6th and 7th July , which we would call it like our home in Leh due to its proximity near market and all. Enjoyed stay there.

Your suggestions really helped.

I would suggest doing Nubra – Turtuk (very nice place but has its own specific audience) or can go to Hunder (generally crowded where most go). Pangong is very good but I think they have stopped overnight stay there.

Hi Nasir,

Permits this year are not being issued to Bangladeshi citizens. If you want to come, first get in touch with a local registered travel agent in Ladakh and come only after he can guarantee that he can get you the permits. As far as I know, right now permits are not issued. If may change later and if it doesn, then yes, October first week is fine to visit.

Dear Mr Vargis ji
We friends group planning to travel in 1st week of October by flight, do we face altitude sickness due to arrival directly by flight. Is it safe. Do we witness any snowfall around leh in first week of October and what will be the approx temperature around leh. What will be the must see adventurous spot for bachelors we regret if we miss.

Thanks & Regards

Hello Mr. Raza – Yes AMS will be a problem for first couple of days since you are reaching there by flight. Better rest for the first 2 days in Leh itself and not move anywhere. In October there is a high chance of snowfall but only at top of the high altitude passes. You will not get any in Leh City.

1*For 3 days trip to lah-srinagar via baltalic route share taxi are available or 1 day go to sam valley and return by share taxi to lah. Then day2 individual taxi to kargil via baltlic is better.
give me your ideas to cover this. We are couple.
2*Your given taxi driver will run only individual taxi or share taxi. Please mention some safety tips/ideas for booking/trvelling on share taxi. Coz I’m going with my wife..

Shared taxis on Batalik route will be a bit tough. You will have to try looking for one either in Leh or at Kargil. My contact only runs private taxi, not shared. Those are more of an on the spot deal, you reach there and look for a taxi that is going towards your destination. Those are quite safe, do not worry. You will find a lot of tourists traveling in them.

For permits, since you are a foreign citizen, you will need to contact a travel agency in Leh. For visiting the above mentioned places, you can either take a bus, shared taxi or rent a private taxi.

Pls suggest me a plan so that I can visit Gurdwara Patthar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, Sumoor, Panamic Hot Spring, Camel Ride at Hunder, Hemis Monastry, Druk School (3 idiots), Thiksey Monastry, Diskit Monastry etc.

Hello Mr. Haq – I really do not have any such recommendations for a particular hotel, the ones that I mentioned in the list here are all great and you can chose one per your liking upon arrival. Turtuk is part of Nubra valley and a little ahead of Diskit. For accommodation here take a look at the article below.

Vargisbhai, which of the above hotels have you tried? My intention is not to increase the costs beyond 300-500 if possible, since I am on a solotrip (accordingly double bedroom not required :P). Running a very tg

Kaustubh Bhai I always stay at Shanti Guest house, the first one in the list. Try Padma Guest House, I think you should be able to negotiate a deal there for Rs. 500-600.

Hello, you should try

Hotel Horzay, Old road, Leh.
Phone: 01982 252 454

Highly recommended. Free wifi, big spacious rooms with good views and the hospitality of the owners is amazing. It is run by a mother and daughter and is a great place to stay.
