If you were planning a trip to Ladakh this year and the Delhi to Leh Bus service by HRTC was on your mind as preferred way of traveling; then you are good to travel any time now. The service was resumed by HRTC last week. In the past, this bus was available only after late June or early July but this year, HRTC decided to make it available early in the season.
Running a total length of about 1100 kilometers, it is one of the longest bus service available in our country and definitely the most scenic one. This bus starts from ISBT Delhi and runs through six different states or UTs (Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir). Please note though that this bus is an extension of previous Delhi to Keylong bus which means that you will not actually be travelling in the same bus throughout the journey. You will first board the bus from Delhi to Keylong; stay there for the night; the bus will change in the morning and you will continue towards Leh.
Total fare of the journey is Rs 1365 per person. The first ticket is for Delhi to Keylong for Rs. 800 and some change. Then again at Keylong you will extend your ticket to Leh for Rs. 500 and change. This amount is just for the ticket, meals and accommodation is not inclusive. Your stay for the night at Keylong will have to be paid by you separately.
