Hotel Review – The Bushahar Regency (HPTDC), Rampur

by Ishita Saha & Partha Pain

On a drive to Spiti Valley, we made a night halt at The Bushahar Regency in Rampur; a hotel owned by HPTDC. We had driven down straight from Chandigarh and arrived in the evening. The USP of the property is that it is on the highway but at the same time relatively quiet and secluded. Check in was smooth and the on-duty manager was friendly and polite. Considering this is a government property, it was a pleasant surprise. Car parking is just outside the property and is ample. The staff was friendly and helped us to take our luggage to the room.

View from Hotel Balcony

The room, a DBR Super Deluxe AC was up to mark with clean linen and a clean washroom. Basic toiletries were provided. Running hot water was available. The attached balcony is a plus and faces the mountains behind. The view from the balcony is of the valley and overlooks tons of greenery. The room was also equipped with a flat screen T.V. with quite a few cable channels.

The Bushahar Regency – Final Verdict

As we were quite tired from the long drive, we ordered an early dinner which the hotel accommodated easily. Food was strictly OK. We left the following morning quite early, so did not try the breakfast. The morning tea service is only available post 7 AM as the pantry staff don’t make it to the property till then.

Pro: Right on the highway. Good service. Clean rooms. Available online on HPTDC site, MakeMyTrip etc.
Con: At 2500/- Rs slightly overpriced. Food can be better

Overall, this hotel is a good place to stop for an overnight stay; recommended as an overnight pitstop. I hope the review above as of help. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask in the comments section below.
